Transcribed by Jan Stevens directly from the video, this interview (one of the pianist's last) was done after the trio performed a concert in Molde, Norway in August 1980, a few weeks before the end...



BILL EVANS ON THELONIOUS MONK


The pianist wrote the liner notes for the album "MONK" (Sony-Columbia) records in 1964. No stranger to Monk's music -- for example, Bill recorded three of his tunes for the 1963 album "Conversations With Myself", example -- this essay remians intriguing all these years later.
